Sunday School

St. Matthews has a long history of strong and vibrant Sunday School programming.  We offer classes for children from age 3 and older.

Our current programme offers Sunday school at least once per month as well as an intergenerational service each month.

Children sit with their families in the sanctuary until after a special message given to them by one of the pastors, about 15 minutes into the service.  They proceed to the fresh and repurposed children's worship space below the sanctuary. This worship time begins with music, story, and a time for prayer. Students then go to a classroom to continue the lesson with crafts tailored by age group and assisted by volunteer teachers and youth. Confirmation aged children go with the pastor to their classroom.  Sunday School runs until the end of worship (around 10:30 am) at which time parents can pick up their children from their class. Children may briefly return to worship for communion.

Ages 3 through grade 6 follow the Spark Curriculum.   Confirmation is available for students in grades 7 and 8  – more information available here.   More information on our youth program is available here.

Looking for something for children under age 3 on Sunday mornings?  Information on our nursery is available here.

We are pleased to have an enthusiastic group of volunteer Sunday School teachers.  In accordance with our Safe Church Policy, all teachers are approved by our pastor and have undergone background checks.
