      The end of Radio Ministry

      January 1, 2022 by Sebastian Meadows-Helmer

As of January 1st, 2022 our 91-year Radio Golden Hour ministry has regretfully come to a close. This difficult decision was made in large part due to Kitchener FaithFM no longer being able to offer same-day broadcasts, and thus our contract with them was not renewed. This also means that the Golden Hour sponsorship programme has ended as well.

It’s been a good run, from our beginnings on February 23rd 1930 up until today. Many thanks to our Radio Operators, Gary, Andrew, Erwin and Jason, a big thank you to our Radio Committee of David, Gary, Andrew and Julia. We remember the dedication to radio ministry of our late sister in Christ, Judy Howell. A word of thanks to our radio sponsors and donors over the years, esp. since the pandemic. Thanks to your generosity we’ve been able to reach so many people and connect so many despite the various lockdowns and the times our church building was not open for worship. A big thank you to our partners of 15 years in broadcasting jointly this Golden Hour, FaithFM 93.7 Kitchener, and especially to their Executive Director Anthony, and their whole team and esp. Barb Dowling, Dave Currie, Dave Schneider, and Andrew Spatafora.

And finally a big thank you to our radio listeners, esp. those who have never set foot in St. Matthews, and those whom we’ve never met. We’re so glad you have been part of the extension of our worship and ministry here in the heart of downtown Kitchener.

While our 11 a.m. broadcast has ended, our 9.30 Golden Hour audio livestream via our website will continue.

More information on the history of the Golden Hour can be found here.
